Barbies, Meatballs, and Ironclad Ships, Oh My! It's Time for Hashtag Holiday Calendar and Pop Quiz

Monday mornings just got a whole lot more festive. NBC Palm Springs weatherman Jerry Steffen is back with another round of Hashtag Holiday Calendar and Pop Quiz, brought to you by One Coachella Valley, and today's lineup of quirky holidays does not disappoint.

First up, it's National Barbie Day! On this date in 1959, the iconic doll made her grand debut at the International Toy Fair in New York City. Whether you had an extensive collection growing up or you were more of a Stretch Armstrong kind of kid, this holiday is your excuse to dig out the dolls, throw on the movie, and celebrate in style.

Next, it's National Meatball Day, a delicious nod to the beloved pasta companion that inspired at least one very memorable novelty song. If you know, you know. And if that song is now stuck in your head, well, you're welcome.

Rounding out the trio is National Bang Klang Day, which commemorates the Battle of Hampton Roads, a historic Civil War clash between two ironclad ships that took place on this very date in 1862. It's history, it's clanging metal, and it's the inspiration behind today's pop quiz questions!

Speaking of which, Jerry has two questions to test your knowledge, and we're not giving away any answers here. You'll have to watch the video to see how the crew did, and more importantly, to see if you can do better!

1) The Trolley Song is known for its iconic chorus and was written for a classic 1944 musical. Which film featured the song?

A) Annie Get Your Gun

B) Easter Parade

C) Meet Me in St. Louis

2) Lester Bangs was a legendary rock and roll music journalist who became a central figure in the beloved 2000 film Almost Famous. Which actor played him on the big screen?

A) Philip Seymour Hoffman

B) Russell Crowe

C) Sean Penn

Think you've got what it takes? Watch the video above to check your answers, and tune in to NBC Palm Springs every morning for more holiday fun and pop quiz action with Jerry Steffen!
