Lockdown Lifted at Saul Martinez Elementary School District Schools School in Mecca After Threat Investigation

A precautionary lockdown at Saul Martinez Elementary School in Mecca has been lifted after Riverside County deputies investigated a reported threat on campus.

Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies from the Thermal Station responded to the school after receiving a report about a possible threat. Out of an abundance of caution, officials placed the campus on lockdown while law enforcement conducted a full investigation.

During the lockdown, students and staff remained on campus while deputies assessed the situation.

Parents quickly turned to social media to share updates and concerns, posting photos and information about the police presence at the school.

After conducting a thorough search and evaluation of the campus, deputies determined there was no active threat.

Authorities say the lockdown lasted just over an hour and was lifted around 2 p.m.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Officials say the investigation remains ongoing as deputies continue to review the circumstances surrounding the initial report.

School district leaders say safety protocols worked as intended, allowing law enforcement to respond quickly and ensure the safety of students and staff.
