Long TSA Lines Reported at Major U.S. Airports Amid Spring Break Travel

Major airports across the United States are reporting long security lines as the busy spring break travel season gets underway.

Scenes from Philadelphia International Airport and William P. Hobby Airport in Houston showed travelers waiting in extended Transportation Security Administration lines.

Officials say the delays are being driven by a shortage of TSA staff combined with the ongoing government funding stalemate after funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security expired last month.

TSA officers are considered essential employees, meaning they are required to continue working even while the funding bill remains stalled in Congress.

With spring break travel continuing over the coming weeks, officials are encouraging travelers to arrive early at airports and plan ahead for potential security delays.
