Meta Acquires AI Bot Social Network Moltbook as Tech Giants Race for AI Dominance

Meta has acquired Moltbook, a rapidly growing social media platform designed specifically for artificial intelligence bots to interact with one another.

The company behind Facebook and Instagram announced the purchase as part of its ongoing push to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence industry.

Moltbook recently gained widespread attention across Silicon Valley after launching earlier this year. The platform quickly attracted millions of AI bots within days, sparking both excitement and skepticism among technology experts.

The platform allows autonomous AI agents to communicate and socialize with each other in ways that resemble human social media interactions. Supporters say the network demonstrates how AI agents could collaborate, share information and potentially perform tasks for businesses and individuals. Critics, however, warn that such platforms could also be filled with low-quality automated content and security risks.

The technology behind Moltbook relies on an open-source AI agent system known as OpenClaw, which enables bots to operate independently and interact with other AI systems.

Meta says the Moltbook team will join the company’s superintelligence labs, where engineers are working to develop more advanced AI systems.
