Ring Ring, It's Holiday Time! Jerry Steffen Is Quizzing the Valley on March 10's Quirky Celebrations
NBC Palm Springs weatherman Jerry Steffen is back with another round of Hashtag Holiday Calendar Pop Quiz, brought to you by One Coachella Valley, and this edition is packed with the kind of holidays that make you stop, smile, and maybe learn something you never expected to know.
First up, National Landline Telephone Day. Today marks the anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell's very first successful phone call, made on this date back in 1876. It's a moment worth celebrating, even if most of us haven't touched a landline in decades, or possibly ever.
Next, International Bagpipe Day, a holiday that comes with a surprise twist. While bagpipes are practically synonymous with Scotland, historians believe the instrument actually traces its roots all the way back to ancient China, around 400 BC. The more you know.
And rounding out today's trio, National Peel Day, a celebration of all things peel related, whether that means exploring the world of chemical skincare or simply reaching for a banana. Either way, the peel is having its moment.
Speaking of peels, that's the theme tying together today's two pop quiz questions. Jerry wants to know how well you know your Peele, and we don't mean the fruit. Test your knowledge and watch the video to find out if you've got what it takes to score a perfect mark.
Here's what's on the quiz:
Filmmaker Jordan Peele wrote, directed, and produced a celebrated trio of horror films widely praised by critics. Two of those films are Us and Nope. Which of the following is the third film in that trio?
A) The Babadook
B) Get Out
C) Hereditary
One of the most iconic album covers in rock history features a banana image designed by Andy Warhol. Early pressings of this 1966 release even included a peelable sticker with the instructions "peel slowly and see," revealing a different color banana underneath. Which band's debut album featured this legendary cover?
A) The Moody Blues
B) Pink Floyd
C) The Velvet Underground
Think you know the answers? Watch the video above to see how you stack up, and don't be too hard on yourself if you get stumped. Even the control room had to think twice.
