San Diego Zoo Safari Park Unveils New “Elephant Valley” Experience
A major new attraction is opening at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, giving visitors a chance to experience African elephants up close.
The new habitat, called Elephant Valley, is designed to immerse guests in the world of African savanna elephants while highlighting the importance of conservation and research.
According to wildlife experts with the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, the park is home to a herd of eight elephants—seven females and one young male. The group follows a matriarchal social structure led by the dominant female, Swazi.
Visitors will be able to observe the elephants interacting, foraging, and forming social bonds within the expanded habitat. Officials say the experience is meant to bring guests closer to the animals while also educating them about global conservation efforts.
In addition to the viewing areas, Elephant Valley will feature cultural exhibits, educational programs, and themed dining inspired by African cuisine.
Park leaders say the attraction aims to connect visitors with wildlife while supporting conservation partnerships around the world.
