Cathedral City High AVID Students Bring College Inspiration to Sunny Sands Third Graders

Cathedral City High School (CCHS) AVID scholars are giving back to their community through meaningful service projects. Recently, a group of CCHS sophomores developed a unique initiative: a mini college fair for third-grade students at Sunny Sands Elementary.

On Feb. 25 and again today, the high school students visited Sunny Sands, introducing young learners to the fundamentals of college life, explaining the AVID program, and providing practical tips for preparing for academic success. The project offered a hands-on approach for the third graders to engage with higher education concepts while giving the AVID scholars an opportunity to develop leadership and mentorship skills.

The mini college fair represents a growing trend of high school programs connecting students with younger peers, fostering early awareness of higher education, and promoting the importance of planning and preparation for academic achievement.
