DHS Sign at Palm Springs Airport Draws Attention

A sign posted inside Palm Springs International Airport is drawing attention after being spotted at a security checkpoint.

The notice, attributed to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, appears to target undocumented immigrants. Written in Spanish, the message encourages individuals to “self-deport” with their families, offering free flights and a cash incentive for each family member who voluntarily leaves the United States.

Airport officials addressed the sign in a statement: "Palm Springs International Airport works hard to keep our airport welcoming for everyone. The sign referenced is a federally mandated notice from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and federal agencies manage their own required signage within the security screening area. The airport does not have the authority to remove or alter those notices.

Anyone wishing to share feedback about the program should contact the U.S. Department of Homeland Security directly."

It’s not immediately clear how long the sign has been posted or whether similar notices are appearing at other airports.
