Fire and Police Agencies Holding Joint Emergency Drill in Indio Thursday

Indio police and fire officials want residents to know ahead of time: if you see a surge of emergency vehicles Thursday, it's not an emergency.

CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department and the Indio Police Department are conducting a joint public safety training exercise on March 12, 2026. The drill is part of ongoing efforts to sharpen coordination between the two agencies. Fire engines, ambulances, and law enforcement personnel will all take part.

The specific location of the drill has not been disclosed. The exercise is closed to the public and media, though residents and businesses in the area can expect to notice increased first responder activity throughout the day.

Officials are asking for the community's patience as the training takes place.
