Draper Survives Djokovic Thriller as Alcaraz Keeps Perfect Record Intact at Indian Wells
The BNP Paribas Open enters its final stretch Thursday with Jack Draper's title defense still alive after one of the matches of the tournament. The British defending champion edged out Novak Djokovic in a three-set classic, winning the deciding set tiebreak after two hours and 35 minutes of tennis that had the Indian Wells crowd on its feet. "Come out here against Novak, for me the greatest tennis player there is, someone I've been admiring and watching since I was a little kid," Draper said after the win. "To do that, I'm just incredibly proud of myself."
Carlos Alcaraz, meanwhile, continued his flawless 2026 season with a commanding win over 13th seed Casper Ruud, playing what commentators described as a near-perfect opening set before closing out the match. The world No. 1 remains unbeaten on the year and will face former Indian Wells champion Cam Norrie for a spot in the semifinals.
