Palm Springs Councilman Ron DeHarte Campaigns for District 3 Seat

PALM SPRINGS (CNS) - Former Palm Springs Mayor and current City
Councilman Ron deHarte, who represents District 3, announced his re-election
bid for the same district in the municipal elections held in November.
On Tuesday, deHarte announced his campaign for re-election to
represent District 3, which encompasses west Palm Springs from Vista Chino to
Ramon Road.
He was first elected to City Council in 2022 with 64.7% of the votes,
and has served as the city's 27th Mayor from 2024 to 2025.
Besides City Council, he has served on several committees, including
the California Coalition of Mayors, the Coachella Valley Association of
Governments Executive Committee and the CVAG Homelessness and Energy and
Environmental Resources Committee.
DeHarte's leadership emphasizes a collaborative approach to plan a
smarter, stronger city, and one of his key stances centers on fiscal
responsibility.
``I've always believed that a thriving tourism economy isn't just a
business goal; it is the engine that allows us to fund social progress, protect
our neighborhoods and address challenges like homelessness with actual
results,'' deHarte said in a statement. ``I'm committed to investing in tourism
and the Palm Springs brand while seeking to diversify the local economy and
streamlining city processes to help businesses thrive. We have to do it all.''
Officials said he wants to move away from open-ended expenditures and
believes the focus should be on spending money on completing tasks that are
underway within the city, instead of committing to new tasks that ```demands
verifiable results for every dollar spent.''
He also advocates on complete transparency -- open communication
between residents and city government -- and economic growth, officials said.
``My focus remains on providing our residents with an experienced
voice dedicated to the essentials: public safety, street maintenance and local
representation,'' deHarte said.
