Renee Taylor Bringing “My Life on a Diet” to Palm Springs Plaza Theatre for One Night Only
Legendary actress and comedian Renee Taylor is bringing her hit one-woman show My Life on a Diet to the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre for a special one-night performance on March 18.
Taylor, best known to television audiences as Sylvia Fine on the long-running sitcom The Nanny, recently sat down with NBC Palm Springs to talk about the show, which blends comedy, storytelling, and decades of personal experiences.
My Life on a Diet chronicles Taylor’s lifelong relationship with dieting, beginning when she was just 11 years old. Now in her 90s, Taylor looks back at the many diet trends she tried over the years, turning the ups and downs into a humorous and heartfelt stage performance.
The show also features stories about her life in Hollywood and encounters with famous celebrities. Taylor jokes that she once believed eating the same food as famous actresses might help her look like them — though she admits that strategy didn’t quite work out.
In addition to her iconic television role on The Nanny, Taylor has had a long and celebrated career in film and theater. She received an Academy Award nomination for Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, which she co-wrote with her late husband, actor and writer Joe Bologna. The pair also earned an Emmy Award for writing the television special Acts of Love and Other Comedies.
After the performance, audience members will have the opportunity to attend a meet-and-greet, where Taylor will sign copies of her book My Life on a Diet and take photos with fans.
The show takes place Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. at the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre.
