Sabalenka and Sinner Crowned Champions at Indian Wells
The 2026 BNP Paribas Open crowned its champions Sunday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, closing out a two-week tournament with two finals that went down to the wire.
Aryna Sabalenka finally got her Indian Wells title, edging Elena Rybakina in three dramatic sets and clinching it in a deciding-set tiebreak, avenging her loss to Rybakina in the Australian Open final back in January. The world No. 1 fired 10 aces and 29 winners and saved a match point along the way to claim her 10th career WTA 1000 crown. In an emotional on-court speech, Sabalenka had plenty to celebrate beyond the trophy. "What a week — getting a puppy, getting engaged, and winning the title," she told the crowd. "I will definitely remember it for the rest of my life."
On the men's side, Jannik Sinner claimed his first-ever Indian Wells title after an epic battle with Daniil Medvedev, fighting back from a deficit in the second-set tiebreak to close out his 25th career title. Sinner didn't drop a single set throughout the entire tournament. "From day one we practiced very hard, and having this result makes me really, really happy," Sinner said. "It's a really special moment."
