Desert Businesses Get a Free Shot at Landing Government Contracts

Local business owners looking to work with government agencies now have a chance to learn how the process works, directly from the people who run it.

The Desert Business Association is hosting a free workshop called "Contracting with Government Agencies" on Wednesday, April 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. at their office at 3111 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way in Palm Springs.

The session is led by local government procurement professionals and covers the basics of breaking into the government contracting world, including where opportunities are posted, what agencies look for in bids and proposals, how the evaluation process works, and how to put together a strong response to a solicitation.

For small businesses or first-timers who have wondered how to get on a city's radar, this is a direct line to the people who actually manage those contracts. The workshop also includes time for questions.
