Tom Steyer Hosts Palm Springs Town Hall Focused on Affordability
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer is making a campaign stop in Palm Springs, hosting a “shared prosperity” town hall at the Mizell Center as part of his statewide tour. The event gives community members a chance to ask questions directly, without pre-screening, offering an open forum for discussion on key issues.
Steyer’s campaign is focused heavily on the rising cost of living in California. During the event, he emphasized concerns about housing affordability, healthcare costs, and rising prices for essentials like gasoline, food, and electricity. He argued that many working Californians have been financially strained for decades and said his campaign is centered on addressing those challenges.
Among his proposals, Steyer has highlighted closing what he describes as the “Trump tax loophole,” as well as implementing policies aimed at lowering everyday costs and protecting communities from federal-level decisions that may impact the state.
The town hall comes as the gubernatorial race continues to take shape. According to polling from Emerson College, Steyer currently ranks third, behind Steve Hilton in second and Representative Eric Swalwell in first.
As the campaign progresses, events like this town hall are giving voters in the Coachella Valley a chance to engage directly with candidates and hear their plans for addressing California’s economic challenges.
