Cielo Vista Charter School Joins Blue Zones Push in Palm Springs
In Palm Springs, the push for healthier living is gaining momentum as Cielo Vista Charter School officially joins the Blue Zones Project.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the milestone, celebrating the school’s commitment to wellness and its role in helping move the Coachella Valley closer to becoming a recognized Blue Zones community — regions known for longevity and healthy living.
The partnership will bring new resources to campus, including cooking classes for students, wellness workshops for teachers, and expanded access to programs that promote nutrition and physical activity. Students are already embracing the initiative, with many expressing excitement about learning new cooking skills and healthier habits.
School leaders say the goal is to encourage students to stay active, build lifelong healthy routines and reduce screen time by engaging more with their community and environment.
Officials with the Blue Zones Project say Cielo Vista is already ahead of the curve, pointing to existing efforts like its school garden and focus on student well-being.
As the initiative grows, organizers hope efforts like this will ripple beyond the classroom, helping transform the broader Palm Springs community into a place where healthier choices are easier for everyone.
