Afroman Wins in Court After Deputies Sued Him Over Songs Mocking Their Raid

An Ohio jury ruled Wednesday that rapper Afroman did not defame seven Adams County sheriff's deputies who sued him after he turned their 2022 raid of his home into a string of mocking songs and music videos.

The deputies claimed the music damaged their reputations. Afroman argued he had every right to respond the way he did. The jury agreed.

Officers broke down his door in August 2022 with a warrant for drug trafficking and kidnapping, but left without finding any evidence. Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, wasn't home at the time, though he says the raid traumatized his children.

Rather than stay quiet, he fought back with music, releasing several songs and videos using footage and imagery from the raid to publicly ridicule the deputies involved.

Afroman is best known for his 2000 hit "Because I Got High."
