Gas Leak in La Quinta Contained, Roads Reopen
An earlier gas main leak in La Quinta has now been contained after prompting a multi-agency response Tuesday morning.
According to CAL FIRE, the incident was reported just before 7:45 a.m. along Washington Street, south of Avenue 47, impacting a nearby commercial building.
Officials say a two-inch gas line was leaking, leading to the response of hazmat crews, Southern California Gas Company, and environmental health teams.
By 11 a.m., the leak had been repaired. Crews remained on scene for about an additional hour to ensure the area was safe.
Both lanes of Washington Street were temporarily closed during the response but have since reopened. No injuries were reported.
