Man Arrested After Naked Assault with Weapon in Palm Springs

A man is behind bars following a violent assault in Palm Springs late Wednesday night.

Police say 42-year-old Damien Christopher Smith was arrested after officers responded to reports of a fight along South Sunrise Way.

Investigators say Smith was the primary aggressor and allegedly made death threats before the situation escalated into a physical attack. Authorities say he assaulted the victim while naked and used a deadly weapon during the incident.

The victim suffered visible injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Smith was later taken into custody and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on multiple charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.
