Pet of the Week: Meet Noelle

Dan Rossi from the Palm Springs Animal Shelter stopped by the NBC Palm Springs studio this week with an absolutely irresistible guest, three-month-old Noelle, a sweet mixed breed pup with short little legs and a big personality. Noelle came in as a stray and has already been spayed, so she is ready to find her forever home. She is curious, cuddly, and just the right amount of wiggly.

But Noelle wasn't the only one looking for a little love. Dan introduced us to three more dogs at the shelter who are ready to make someone's home complete.

Zeus is a four-year-old, 74-pound shepherd, rottweiler, husky mix with striking blue eyes that will stop you in your tracks. He was surrendered in February and does best in a home with kids 12 and older. He is affectionate, playful, knows commands like sit and paw, and loves chew toys and soft toys. Zeus is an active guy who thrives with structure, mental stimulation, and a secure yard. In the right home, he is an incredibly loyal companion.

Summer is a two-year-old pit bull mix who came in as a stray back in August. She arrived shy and shut down, but has blossomed beautifully with the care of shelter volunteers. She loves cuddles, walks nicely on leash, and warms up quickly, especially with a treat or two. A meet-and-greet is recommended if there is another dog in the home.

Little Girl got her name from the good Samaritan who found her as a stray and had already been calling her that. She is about two years old, puppy-like in energy, and absolutely devoted to people. She may be blind in one eye, but it does not slow her down one bit. She walks well on leash, has lived with cats, and has been around kids. She is the kind of dog who follows you from room to room just to be near you.

Upcoming Events:

The Palm Springs Animal Shelter will be part of the Gardens to the Rescue adoption event this Saturday, March 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gardens on El Paseo. This year the event moves indoors to the Sundance Store, located between Trina Turk and Everything But Water.

Also, mark your calendars for a Baby Shower on Wednesday, April 2nd benefiting the Desert Wildlife Center. As baby bird season ramps up, the center is in need of donations including paper towels, Dawn dish soap, and other supplies. For a full wish list, visit the shelter's website.

Volunteers are also needed at the Wildlife Center, so if you are interested in helping with baby bird season, now is the perfect time to get involved.
