CBS News Cuts Six Percent of Staff as New Editor-in-Chief Reshapes Network

CBS News announced Friday it is laying off about 6% of its roughly 1,100 workers, the second round of cuts to hit the network in six months.

The latest reductions are more targeted than the last, coming after parent company Paramount's broader layoffs also impacted CBS earlier this year. Sources say the new cuts stem from obsolete operations and the poor morale Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss observed when she joined the network in October.

Weiss is also shutting down CBS Radio entirely. Sources say she wanted to keep it running but had no choice, as the division had stopped generating revenue.
