Man Arrested in Indio After Woman Critically Injured in Domestic Shooting

A man is behind bars following a domestic disturbance that turned violent in Indio.

According to the Indio Police Department, 56-year-old Francisco Javier Gonzalez-Garcia was arrested Thursday night in the Palmdale Estates community near Monroe Street.

Investigators say Gonzalez-Garcia allegedly fired a handgun during the incident, critically injuring a 58-year-old woman. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Gonzalez-Garcia was taken into custody at the scene and later booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
