An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Sunday, March 22, 2026!
The Extreme Heat Warning may have been dropped for the Coachella Valley, but high temperatures will still exceed 100° this afternoon.
That Extreme Heat Warning continues through this evening for Eastern Riverside County, Imperial County and the High Desert where midday highs will be running anywhere between 20 and 30-degrees above seasonal levels.
As a low pressure center moves adjacent to Southern California today, it will slowly dissolve. There will not be any precipitation with this disturbance, but it will direct middle-and high level clouds over our area this morning and afternoon.
Compared to yesterday, Valley highs will back-off today, but only slightly. You can expect high temperatures just above to century mark this afternoon. To put it in perspective, Palm Springs normal high for March 22 is 82°.
Sunshine returns Monday with more above-normal high temps close to 100°. More of the same through Friday.
Looking at long-range forecast models, it still appears a couple of waves will reduce Coachella Valley numbers in a little over a week. Valley high temps will back-off to the middle-90s on Monday, March 30... followed by middle-80s on Wednesday, April 1... then upper-70s/lower-80s on April 2. Remember, there will be adjustments to this outlook. Stay tuned!
