Road Closure Alert: Avenue 50 Shutting Down for Festival Season Starting Monday

The City of Indio is closing Avenue 50 between Monroe Street and Madison Street starting Monday, March 23, through May 4 to accommodate the back-to-back festival season that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Coachella Valley each spring.

The closure covers the stretch of road that runs directly near the Empire Polo Club, where both festivals are held. Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, one of the largest music festivals in the world, takes place April 10 through 12 and April 17 through 19. Stagecoach Country Music Festival follows the next weekend, running April 24 through 26.

Drivers are encouraged to use Highway 111, Dr. Carreon Boulevard, Avenue 48, or Avenue 52 as alternate routes during this time. The city says additional closures and access route changes within Indio will be announced soon.
