Palm Springs Airport Says No ICE Agents on Site, Travelers Should Expect Normal Experience

Palm Springs International Airport says there are no ICE agents deployed at its security checkpoints, and travelers should expect a normal experience.

The airport released a statement Monday morning following ICE's nationwide deployment to TSA security lines, which began today as part of the Trump administration's response to staffing shortages caused by the partial government shutdown. Roughly 50,000 TSA employees have been working without pay, pushing no-show rates at some airports to around 10%, and stretching security wait times to hours at major hubs across the country.

PSP says none of that is playing out locally. "At Palm Springs International Airport, it's business as usual," the statement reads, adding that security wait times remain between zero and 15 minutes. The airport says it is monitoring the situation and staying in contact with federal partners, and will notify the community if anything changes.

It remains unclear exactly which airports are seeing ICE agents today. Border Czar Tom Homan, who is overseeing the deployment, said Sunday that airports with the longest lines will be prioritized first. President Trump has also said ICE agents could make immigration arrests while stationed at checkpoints.
