Pups, Kittens, and a Little Pop Quiz Chaos on Monday Morning
First up, it is National Chip and Dip Day, whether you are reaching for potato chips and onion dip or loading up on tortilla chips with spicy salsa and guacamole. Then there is National Melba Toast Day, a thin, crispy little toast traditionally paired with pâté, cheese, or soup, a classic you may not have thought about in years. And rounding out the trio, National Cuddly Kitten Day and National Cute Puppy Day fall on the very same day, so go ahead and give your fur baby some extra love this morning.
In true Hashtag Holiday Calendar fashion, weatherman Jerry Steffen brought the trivia energy alongside Coachella Valley Chris, who was playing along before heading into road conditions. With festival season just around the corner, things are already heating up out there, but first, the quiz!
Two questions, one for the pups and one for the kittens. Think you know your classic pop culture? Here is your chance to find out:
1) The song "Puppy Love" hit Billboard's Top Ten twice, performed by two different artists. Paul Anka, who wrote the song, placed it at number two in 1960, and once said he wrote it about a crush he had on a famous television personality. Who inspired the song?
A) Annette Funicello
B) Patty Duke
C) Sally Field
2) Amanda Blake was a beloved American actress best known for playing Miss Kitty Russell, a redheaded saloon proprietress, on a long-running television Western from 1955 to 1974. Which show was it?
A) Bonanza
B) Gunsmoke
C) Wagon Train
Chris played along live on air, and let's just say there was some spirited debate, a rogue computer, and a whole lot of confidence going around the studio this morning. Watch the video to see how it all played out and test your own knowledge while you are at it!
