Festival Season Fuels Surge in Airbnb Prices Across Coachella Valley
Festival season is just around the corner in the Coachella Valley, and while much of the focus is on the millions of dollars generated for cities and local businesses, another sector is also seeing a major boost—short-term rentals.
With the return of the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, demand for Airbnb properties is surging. Homeowners across the valley say they’ve noticed a significant increase in both bookings and prices, with some luxury homes renting for thousands—and even more than $100,000—for a single weekend.
Kristen Martinez, a local homeowner who rents out her property, says festival season provides a unique financial opportunity. She explains that the influx of visitors not only benefits businesses and city revenues but also introduces travelers to different areas of the valley they may not have previously considered.
Real estate professionals say the spike in rental prices varies year to year. Anthony Bauer notes that pricing often depends on festival lineups and overall demand, meaning rates can fluctuate rather than steadily increase.
Safety and property protection also play a role in how homes are rented during this busy time. Kathleen O’Brien says some homeowners prefer renting to festival staff, such as workers affiliated with Goldenvoice, rather than large groups of attendees. She says this option can provide peace of mind, especially for properties valued in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Whether rented out to groups of friends attending the festivals or to staff working behind the scenes, homeowners say festival season continues to be a major economic driver.
As the Coachella Valley prepares for another busy season, it’s clear that beyond the music and entertainment, festival weekends are creating significant financial opportunities across multiple industries.
