Oil Prices Surge Past $100 a Barrel as Middle-East Fighting Continues

Oil prices are back above $100 a barrel as fighting between Israel and Iran continued overnight, rattling global energy markets.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, climbed above $114 a barrel Monday before pulling back just under $100 after President Donald Trump said he had productive conversations with Iran about ending the war. Iran denied any dialogue with Washington, and both sides have continued trading strikes.

The conflict is now in its fourth week, with no clear end in sight. For drivers and consumers locally, the price swings at the pump could continue as long as the fighting does.
