Palm Springs Residents Invited to Weigh In on 510-Acre Development Plan
Palm Springs residents will have a chance to shape the future of their north-end neighborhoods Monday night, when the city hosts a community workshop on the Tramview Heights Specific Plan, a 510-acre master development stretching from Highway 111 to Indian Canyon Drive, just south of Interstate 10 and near the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
The workshop runs from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center at 480 W. Tramview Road. City staff will walk through proposed land use and zoning changes and take questions from residents.
The plan, formerly known as the College Park Specific Plan, covers ten distinct planning areas and touches on everything from new housing and commercial development to bike lanes, traffic calming, and road improvements. The name change to Tramview Heights was chosen by community members through a majority vote during earlier outreach.
The area includes established neighborhoods like Mountain Gate, Desert Highlands, and Gateway Estates, alongside vacant parcels, multi-family housing, and commercial and industrial properties. The city thinks the plan will bring greater mobility, economic growth, and improved public services to the area.
