U.S. Sends Iran Peace Proposal, Tehran Pushes Back as Thousands of Troops Deploy to Region

The United States has sent Iran a 15-point plan to end the war, according to two regional sources and a U.S. official, but Tehran is already rejecting it. Iran responded Wednesday by insisting any resolution will happen on its own terms and timeline, not Washington's.
A senior Iranian political-security official said the U.S. proposals are "excessive" and disconnected from what Iran sees as America's failures on the battlefield. The official was direct: Iran will not allow President Trump to dictate when or how the war ends.
Iran has outlined five conditions it says must be met before it would agree to a ceasefire. Those include a complete halt to what it calls "aggression and assassinations," concrete guarantees that the war won't be reimposed on the country, and clearly defined payments for war damages and reparations, among others.
While diplomacy stalls, the U.S. military is moving fast. At least 1,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division will deploy to the Middle East in the coming days. Two Pentagon officials confirmed the deployment to NBC News, saying elements of the division's headquarters, support units, and the 1st Brigade Combat Team are all headed to the region, though they declined to provide additional details for security reasons. The 82nd Airborne is specifically trained to parachute into hostile or contested areas to secure key territory and airfields.
The troop movement doesn't stop there. The Pentagon is also sending roughly 5,000 Marines, trained for amphibious assaults, along with thousands of sailors to the region, meaning the total U.S. military buildup could reach well into the tens of thousands.
