Indio Releases Festival Season Road Closure Plan for Coachella and Stagecoach Weekends

With festival season just weeks away, the City of Indio has released its full traffic and road closure plan ahead of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival, both held at the Empire Polo Grounds.

Some closures are already underway. Since the start of this week, Avenue 50 between Monroe and Madison Streets has been shut down to allow crews to access and set up the festival grounds, and it will stay closed through May 4.

During each festival weekend, from Friday through Monday, drivers can expect four additional closures: Avenue 49 between Hjorth and Monroe Streets; Avenue 50 between Madison and Jackson Streets; Hjorth Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 50; and Madison Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 52.

Coachella runs April 10 through 12 and April 17 through 19. Stagecoach follows April 24 through 26.

The city is directing drivers to use alternative routes to get around the closures, including southbound Jefferson, Washington, and Monroe Streets from Interstate 10 to Avenue 52, Avenue 48 between Jefferson and Jackson Streets, and Highway 111 at Jefferson Street.

Residents living near the polo grounds should plan for added congestion and delays throughout the month of April and into early May.
