MiniMuster Program Teaches Fire Safety to Palm Desert Students

Fire safety education took center stage in Palm Desert as the annual MiniMuster program wrapped up its final stop.

The program, hosted by the Palm Desert Historical Society, CAL FIRE Battalion 12, and the City of Palm Desert made its 31st and final visit at Gerald Ford Elementary School.

Designed for third-grade students, MiniMuster focuses on teaching fire prevention and safety through interactive, hands-on learning.

Students rotated through multiple stations, including a bucket brigade exercise, trying on full firefighter gear, and navigating a smokehouse to practice safely exiting a burning home.

Organizers say the goal is to help children understand what to do in the event of a fire, how to prevent fires at home, and the importance of tools like smoke alarms.

The program coincides with fire prevention efforts in local schools, giving students practical experience that goes beyond traditional classroom lessons.

Officials say MiniMuster continues to play a vital role in preparing young students with life-saving knowledge they can carry with them and share with their families.
