Thousands Rally Across Coachella Valley for Nationwide “No Kings” Protests, Large Crowd at Palm Springs City Hall

Demonstrators across the Coachella Valley joined a nationwide wave of “No Kings” protests Saturday, part of a coordinated day of action that saw thousands of rallies take place across the United States.
Nationally, organizers planned more than 3,000 protests in all 50 states, with millions of people expected to participate in what is being described as one of the largest single-day protest movements in recent years.
Locally, four official protests were held across the Coachella Valley, including gatherings in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Cathedral City, and Rancho Mirage. NBC Palm Springs crews attended all four events throughout the morning.
The largest turnout was seen in Palm Springs, where an estimated 6,500 people gathered near City Hall, according to on-the-ground observations. Protesters carried signs, chanted, and voiced concerns on a range of issues, mirroring themes seen nationwide.
The “No Kings” movement centers around opposition to what organizers describe as government overreach, with demonstrations addressing topics such as immigration policies, civil rights, economic concerns, and U.S. military actions abroad.
While major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. saw massive crowds, a significant portion of today’s protests took place in smaller communities—highlighting widespread participation beyond urban centers.
Organizers have emphasized that the protests are intended to be peaceful and serve as a show of civic engagement, with many participants hoping to influence public policy and voter turnout ahead of upcoming elections.
NBC Palm Springs will be sharing highlight clips from all four local protests on social media. Viewers can find coverage on Instagram at @NBCPalmSprings and on TikTok at NBCPalmSpringskmir.
