AMDOCS Festival Wraps with Spotlight on Local Veterans

The American Documentary and Animation Film Festival wrapped up a successful weekend in Palm Springs, bringing global storytelling and local history to the big screen.

Held at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, the festival featured a wide range of animated and documentary films from around the world.

Sunday’s lineup put a special focus on local stories, including a 45-minute report from Olivia Sandusky highlighting Coachella Valley veterans and the region’s connection to World War II.

That screening was followed by a tribute to Vietnam War veterans presented by the Palm Springs Air Museum.

Organizers say the goal was not only to share history, but also to recognize veterans, especially those who did not receive a proper welcome home after their service.

Many veterans attended the screenings, making for an emotional and meaningful experience for both filmmakers and the audience.

For those who missed the event, the World War II special report is available to watch on NBC Palm Springs’ YouTube page.
