Palm Springs Fire Department Hosts Second Open House on Fire Station No. 1 Modernization

The Palm Springs Fire Department is holding a community open house this afternoon to share early plans for modernizing Fire Station No. 1 and gather public feedback before anything is finalized.

The meeting runs from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the station, located at 277 N. Indian Canyon Drive. Fire Chief Paul Alvarado and department staff will be on hand to walk residents through conceptual designs, answer questions, and give tours of the facility.

According to the city, the station no longer meets current safety standards and does not adequately serve the needs of firefighters or the city's growing population. This is the second open house in a series planned as the modernization effort moves forward, and the city says nothing is set in stone yet.

One of the most pressing concerns for nearby businesses is parking. Previous drafts of the plan would use land that now operates as a parking lot serving businesses along the 200 block of North Palm Canyon Drive, and business owners say that space is critical to keeping customers coming in.

Residents who want to shape what comes next are encouraged to attend.
