Dow surges more than 1,100 points as stocks rally to close Tuesday higher

Stocks closed solidly higher Tuesday as all three major indexes posted major gains by the end of the trading day.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished at 46,341.51, up 1,125.37 points, or 2.49 percent. The S&P 500 closed at 6,528.52, gaining 184.80 points, or 2.91 percent. The Nasdaq ended the day at 21,590.63, rising 795.99 points, or 3.83 percent.
The strong finish marked a broad rally across Wall Street, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq leading the way in percentage gains. The Dow also delivered a significant jump, climbing more than 1,100 points by the closing bell.
The closing board from the New York Stock Exchange showed steady momentum throughout the day, with the major indexes finishing near their session highs.
