Man Found Dead Outside Indio Home After Late-Night Fire

Authorities are investigating what they say is an apparent suicide, after a house was set on fire late Monday night in Indio.

Indio police and CAL FIRE crews responded to a home in the 82000 block of Via Turin just after 11 p.m. Monday night after reports of a residential fire. While firefighters were working to put out the blaze, they discovered a 68-year-old man dead outside the residence. 

Investigators say preliminary evidence suggests he died by suicide. No one else was found on the property. CAL FIRE arson investigators have taken over the fire investigation, while the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Coroner's Office took custody of the man's body. His identity has not yet been released.
