Tiger Woods pleads not guilty to DUI charges after Florida rollover crash, requests jury trial

Golf legend Tiger Woods has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from a rollover crash in Florida, according to newly filed court documents.

The charges include driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Woods’ attorney has also filed a demand for a jury trial, waiving his need to appear at an initial arraignment hearing.

The incident occurred last week in Martin County, where authorities say Woods crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle towing a trailer. The impact caused his SUV to flip onto its side, according to an arrest affidavit.

A responding deputy reported that Woods showed signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes and extremely dilated pupils. He also reportedly failed multiple field sobriety exercises. However, a breath test later showed no alcohol in his system.

Woods told deputies he had taken prescription medications earlier in the day. Authorities say hydrocodone pills were found in his possession, and he declined to take a urine test to check for other substances.

Despite the crash, Woods was not injured. His driver’s license has since been suspended, and his arraignment had been scheduled for April 23 before being waived.

The case adds to a series of past incidents involving the 15-time major champion, including a 2017 arrest related to prescription drug use and a serious rollover crash in 2021.

The latest development comes as Woods has been attempting yet another return to competitive golf following multiple injuries and surgeries. It remains unclear whether he will compete in upcoming tournaments, including the Masters.
