AT&T Technicians Replace Widow’s Flagpole in Colton Act of Kindness

A routine service visit turned into a powerful act of kindness in Colton, where AT&T technicians stepped in to help a local widow honor her late husband.

Tani Robinson says her flagpole held deep meaning—it was installed in memory of her husband, who passed away from cancer before he could put one up himself. The couple shared a strong sense of patriotism, with family ties to military service spanning World War II and Vietnam.

But over time, the flagpole weakened and eventually broke, leaving the American flag lying in her front yard.

During a recent visit, AT&T technician Jorge Garcia noticed the fallen pole and offered to help. What Robinson initially thought was just a kind comment turned into something much more.

Garcia submitted the situation through AT&T’s “Act of Kindness” program. Just days later, he returned with coworkers to install a brand-new flagpole, complete with a fresh concrete base.

Robinson says the gesture meant everything to her, calling it a true act of generosity done purely from the heart.

In a city known for its patriotism, this simple act serves as a reminder of the power of community and compassion.
