New Fire Station 98 Opens in Desert Hot Springs

A major boost to public safety is now in place in Desert Hot Springs.

Leaders with CAL FIRE and city officials gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open Fire Station 98.

The new station is being described as a critical investment aimed at expanding emergency response capacity and strengthening fire protection in the eastern portion of the city.

Construction and operational planning for the project began in November 2025, with the goal of enhancing both fire and emergency services for the growing community.

Fire Station 98 is currently staffed with a four-person engine crew and is expected to transition to a 107-foot ladder truck, allowing for more advanced firefighting capabilities.

Officials say the new facility will play a key role in improving response times and overall public safety for residents.

More details on the station and its long-term impact are expected in a full report coming up later today.
