Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus Brings Dolly Parton Tribute “Rhinestones and Rainbows” to Plaza Theater

The Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus is set to light up the stage with its latest production, “Rhinestones and Rainbows,” a vibrant tribute to music icon Dolly Parton and a lineup of crossover artists.

Artistic Director Jerry Soria-Faust says the show will deliver something for everyone, starting with a full first act dedicated entirely to Dolly Parton’s music. Audiences can expect a mix of classic hits and newer material, including “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” “My Tennessee Mountain Home,” and “Baby, I’m Burnin’,” along with selections from Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The show opens with “World on Fire,” a modern Dolly track reflecting today’s world.

The second act expands beyond country, featuring music from artists who have crossed genres and generations. Performances will include songs made famous by Linda Ronstadt, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Pink, highlighting powerful storytelling through music.

The chorus is coming off a record-breaking holiday season, having sold out all three performances of its Christmas show at the Plaza Theater, filling more than 2,100 seats. With about 120 volunteer singers, the group continues to grow and build on its mission of combining musical excellence with social impact.

Soria-Faust, who has a background in music education and decades of experience with choruses across the country, says the energy and passion of the performers are what make the experience special for audiences.

“Rhinestones and Rainbows” will take place April 24, 25, and 26 at the Plaza Theater in downtown Palm Springs.
