Average Riverside County Gas Price Declines For a Change

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular
gasoline in Riverside County dropped six-tenths of a cent today to $5.845,
after increasing 62 of the last 63 days to its highest amount since Oct. 7,
2023.

The average price is 3.2 cents more than one week ago, $1.281 more
than one month ago and $1.071 more than one year ago, according to figures from
the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 52.8 cents less than the
record $6.373 set on Oct. 5, 2022.

Prices were rising slightly in line with seasonal norms before the
joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28 sent oil prices higher and
drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.

The national average price rose 1.7 cents to $4.081, its highest
amount since Aug. 6, 2022. It is 10 cents more than one week ago, $1.084 more
than one month ago and 84.3 cents more than one year ago. The national average
price is 93.5 cents less than the record $5.016 set on June 14, 2022.

``Gas prices could indeed fall, but are highly unlikely to go back to
their pre-war levels for months, in part due to the amount of time needed for
global inventories to build back, and in part due to seasonality -- rising
demand, refinery turnarounds and summer gasoline,'' Patrick De Haan, head of
petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information
from more than 150,000 stations, wrote on social media Tuesday.
