Desert Hospital Honors Organ Donors During National Donate Life Month, Celebrates Legacy of Local Nurse
April marks National Donate Life Month, and in the Coachella Valley, a heartfelt ceremony honored the life-saving impact of organ donors.
At John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, a Donate Life flag was raised to recognize those who have given the gift of life through organ donation. The event also paid special tribute to ER nurse Annabelle Sanchez, whose legacy continues even after her passing.
Sanchez, remembered for her compassion and dedication to helping others, became an organ donor—allowing her to save lives beyond her years of service in the hospital. Family members and colleagues say her decision reflects the same servant heart she showed every day on the job.
The ceremony, held in partnership with OneLegacy, highlighted the importance of organ donation and encouraged others to consider making that same life-changing decision.
Organizers say events like this not only honor those who have donated, but also help raise awareness about the ongoing need for donors.
Through stories like Sanchez’s, they hope more people will choose to register and give others a second chance at life.
