“Scream 8” in the Works as James L. Brooks Honored and “Amadeus” Gets New TV Adaptation

A new chapter in a major horror franchise is already in the works following record-breaking success.

“Scream 8” is now in development after the latest installment became the highest-grossing film in the franchise’s history. Writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman have been tapped to pen the script, signaling continued momentum for the long-running series.

Meanwhile, legendary creator James L. Brooks is being recognized for his decades of work in television and film. He will receive the Peabody Awards’ inaugural Industry Icon Award at a ceremony in Beverly Hills. Brooks is known for helping create iconic shows like “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Taxi,” and “The Simpsons,” along with films such as “Terms of Endearment” and “As Good As It Gets.”

And a classic story is getting a fresh new look. A limited series adaptation of “Amadeus,” starring Will Sharp and Paul Bettany, is set to premiere May 8 on Starz. The series reimagines the award-winning play centered on the rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri.

From blockbuster sequels to award honors and reimagined classics, Hollywood continues to deliver big headlines.
