Shadow Hills’ Nate Williams Soars to Records with Elite Vertical Leap
A standout athlete at Shadow Hills High School is proving that size isn’t everything when it comes to dominating track and field.
Junior Nate Williams, standing at just 5-foot-4, is making headlines with record-breaking performances in both the long jump and high jump. His success is fueled by an impressive vertical leap—something he first discovered as a freshman while playing varsity basketball.
Williams says his jumping ability, estimated at around 30 inches or more, helped him transition from the hardwood to the track. That natural athleticism has paid off, as he’s now broken the school’s all-time long jump record and climbed to fourth on the high jump list.
Coaches say it’s not just his physical ability that sets him apart, but also his competitiveness and energy.
Despite competing in events often dominated by taller athletes, Williams continues to exceed expectations and push his limits with each meet.
With strong performances and growing confidence, he’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting young track stars in the Coachella Valley.
