“Top Gun: Maverick” Darkstar Aircraft on Display at Palm Springs Air Museum

Lockheed Martin is giving aviation and movie fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at one of Hollywood’s most mysterious aircraft—the Darkstar—now on display at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

The futuristic aircraft was prominently featured in the 2022 blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, starring Tom Cruise. Designed to look like a next-generation hypersonic jet, the Darkstar quickly became one of the film’s most talked-about elements.

Visitors to the exhibit can get an up-close look at the aircraft, including its fully outfitted cockpit, which was built specifically for filming. Organizers say the display offers insight into the creative process behind bringing the fictional jet to life on screen.

In addition to viewing the aircraft, attendees can hear directly from a Lockheed Martin representative and explore exclusive stories and never-before-seen photos tied to the production of the film.

Organizers describe the exhibit as a unique opportunity to experience a blend of aviation innovation and Hollywood storytelling. Tickets and additional information are available through the museum’s website.
