Coachella Valley History Museum Preserves Desert Roots and Inspires Future Generations

The Coachella Valley History Museum is giving residents and visitors a deeper look into the stories that shaped the desert.

Located in Indio, the museum features historic buildings, artifacts, and exhibits that highlight key moments in the region’s development—from early schools and medical advancements to the families who helped build the community.

NBC Palm Springs’ Kai Beech toured the grounds, where visitors can explore preserved structures like an adobe home dating back to 1926, along with rare historical items including an early 1900s American flag.

Museum leaders say the goal is to connect people to the past while inspiring future generations to appreciate the valley’s rich history.

The site also hosts special events and serves as a gathering place for families and community members, many of whom discover personal ties to the museum’s history.

As a local nonprofit, the museum continues to rely on community support while working to preserve the legacy of the Coachella Valley.
