Glassblowing Studio Creates Unique Easter Egg Hunt with Handcrafted Art

A glassblowing studio in Iowa is turning heads this Easter with a creative spin on a classic tradition.

Fuego Hot Glass in Newton is organizing a citywide Easter egg hunt featuring more than 600 handcrafted glass eggs. Each piece is uniquely designed, blending art and celebration into one community-wide event.

The idea began after the owners, John and Mary Curiel, saw how quickly handmade ornaments disappeared during a small holiday promotion last Christmas. Inspired by the excitement, they expanded the concept for Easter—and the response has been overwhelming.

More than 50 local businesses have joined the effort, purchasing the glass eggs and hiding them throughout the city. Organizers say the goal is not just fun, but also to bring the community together and highlight local businesses.

Participants will receive clues on social media before the hunt begins, adding an extra layer of excitement for families and treasure hunters alike.

Each egg takes several minutes to create, making every find a small work of art. One lucky participant will also discover a golden egg, redeemable for special prizes.

Organizers hope the event becomes a lasting tradition, combining creativity, community, and a little friendly competition.
