Palm Springs 70mm Fest Returns for Second Year
The Palm Springs 70mm Fest is returning for its second year at the Camelot Theater, running from May 29 through 31. The festival celebrates large-format cinema, giving audiences a rare opportunity to experience films in 70mm— the gold standard for color, detail, and clarity.
The lineup features classics including 2001: A Space Odyssey, Boogie Nights, Lawrence of Arabia, West Side Story, and The Searchers. Opening night will be highlighted by a new 70mm print of Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, created specifically for this event.
Film experts say 70mm offers a viewing experience far beyond traditional 35mm or digital presentations. With over twice the frame size, 70mm captures extraordinary detail and color that cannot be replicated by digital formats, immersing audiences in the visual richness of classic cinema.
Tickets for the festival are on sale now, with early bird pricing available through May. Fans of film and cinephiles alike are encouraged to secure their seats to experience these iconic movies in their most vivid form.
