Puppy Rescued from Chimney of Abandoned Detroit Home by Fire Crews
A dramatic rescue in Detroit has a happy ending after firefighters saved a puppy trapped inside the chimney of an abandoned home.
The puppy was spotted peering out from the top of the chimney, prompting a concerned neighbor to call for help. Due to the unstable condition of the home, Michigan Humane reached out to the Detroit Fire Department for assistance.
Fire crews used a ladder truck to carefully reach the top of the chimney and safely retrieve the exhausted dog. Video from the scene shows the delicate rescue as firefighters worked to bring the puppy down.
The dog, believed to be a pit bull mix, was later named “Stack” by first responders. He was taken into the care of Michigan Humane, where he is being monitored and treated as he recovers and gains strength.
Officials say quick thinking and teamwork made the rescue possible, turning a dangerous situation into a story of survival and compassion.
